What will the schedule for this retreat be like?
The schedule varies depending upon the retreat. We try to incorporate a balance between learning, creativity, movement and rest.

What is included in the price?
Accommodations, CEUs, all art supplies, personal art journal, your own copy of Brené Brown’s book The Gifts of Imperfection, instruction in the curriculum led by two Certified Daring Way™ Facilitators, all programing, sessions and workshops, breakfast and lunch, snacks, beverages. And a special gift bag for every participant!
What should I bring to the retreat?
A blanket or shawl (the AC can run cold at times!),
A picture of yourself (any age) that captures your authentic self, perhaps before you learned to please other people
1-3 pictures of yourself when you could have used compassion, a time when you were stuggling, feeling alone or not enough. (if you prefer to email a pdf to us, that’s fine — we can print it for you)
Swimsuit and any beach gear

Will Continuing Education (CE) credits be offered for this retreat?
Yes, most of our retreats offer CE credits for Social Workers and Professional Counselors. We offer all participants a CE certificate, which other professionals can submit to their boards for approval.
Who is eligible to attend this retreat?
This retreat is specifically designed for mental health professionals, helpers and healers, including psychotherapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, physicians, nurses, reiki masters, massage therapists, yoga instructors, etc. In the past we have also had accountants, attorneys and other professionals attend.
Lisa and Cheryl are trained psychotherapists, but this retreat is designed as a wellness retreat offering, and is not a replacement for psychotherapeutic care.
When should I arrive and plan to leave?
This is retreat specific.
For the September 2025 retreat plan to arrive at the house between noon - 1:30 on 9/11/25. The retreat will close at 10am on 9/13/25. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to travel back after we close, you don't want to miss the final session and closing goodbyes!
Is it required to participate in all the modules/events of the retreat?
It is not required, however due to the nature of the retreat we encourage you to participate as fully as you can while taking good care of yourself. If you need to take a break, we encourage that! We will be checking in throughout to assess how everyone is doing.
Is this a therapeutic retreat?
While many participants experience significant therapeutic benefit from our retreats, this retreat is not a replacement for therapy.
How do I know this retreat is for me?
A good way to get a feel for the spirit of this retreat is to take the Wholehearted Inventory, an instrument created by Brené Brown to assess strengths and opportunities for growth.
Can I attend the sessions during the day but not stay overnight at the retreat?
Due to the nature of the retreat, and the important connections the group makes during the downtime for the retreat, we do not offer day attendance.
Can you help me find a roommate?
Our house has a combination or shared rooms and single rooms, all available on a first-come, first-served basis, and we are happy to speak with you about your rooming preferenes.
What is the group size for this retreat?
This retreat is intentionally limited to a small group of only 11 participants to ensure a high personalized and intimate experience.
What airport do I fly into?
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, situated approximately 30 miles outside of Hilton Head Island. About a 40-45 minute drive.
There is a smaller airport called The Hilton Head Island Airport on the island which several major airlines fly into.
Are there ADA accomodations?
Bathrooms are ADA compliant. There is an elevator serving the house; however neither the elevator nor the house are considered ADA compliant. The elevator’s use is solely considered a convenience use item for things like groceries and luggage. It can be operated and ridden by adults only and at their own risk. Elevator use is not guaranteed due to the frequency of required maintenance. We do all we can to make sure the evelator is available to you if needed. Please keep in mind when booking, this is a house with multiple levels, and If you or someone in your party can not handle stairs this retreat may not be a good fit for you.

Is the retreat refundable if I can’t attend?
Due to the extensive planning and limited spots available, all payments are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another therapist, helper or healer you know or someone from our waitlist.
Should I have travel insurance?
We recommend you purchase individual travel insurance for your trip from Allianz or Travel Insured.
